Marissa Caldwell

Communication Scholar | Instructor | Educational Developer

Marissa Caldwell (she/her) is a Lecturer, Ph.D. Candidate, and Teaching Assistant in the School of Communication & Information at Rutgers University. Her primary research interest is in Conversation Analysis of U.S. political discourse, and she currently studies question and answers in U.S. congressional hearings. She is an active member of Rutgers University Conversation Analysis Lab (RUCAL), a collaboration between professors and doctoral students who complete research using Conversation Analysis methodology.

Marissa is passionate about improving herself as an educator and staying up-to-date with best practices in college teaching, especially inclusive teaching. She works with the Office of Teaching Evaluation and Assessment Research (OTEAR) on their Classroom Inclusivity Series, as well as with the Teaching Assistant Project (TAP), which helps prepare and support graduate student Teaching Assistants across the university to teach. Additionally, she is a Graduate Fellow with the Rutgers Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (RASTL), and was a 2022-2023 Graduate Fellow with the Pre-Doctoral Leadership Development Academy (PLDA).
